A Handyman of the heart

Every day, many families innovate in order to improve the autonomy and development of their child or someone close to them who is disabled. The competition “a handyman of the heart”, organised by Handicap International and patroned by Eddy Merckx, recognises the ingenuity of these handyman fathers, smart mothers and inventive grandparents.

Lobbying

From very early on, Handicap International chose to campaign against antipersonnel mines, arms which kill and maim many civilians often a long time after the end of conflicts.

Awareness Raising

The main activity of Handicap International in Belgium is to raise awareness of the problems surrounding disability, antipersonnel mines and other unexploded war ordnance.

In the field

Handicap International is an international solidarity organisation and has set up programmes in approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations. It has a network of eight national associations (Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA). The Belgian section is active in 12 countries.
